Happy Mother’s Day

Poem for Mothers

The first arms to hold me,
So tender and dear…
and make me feel safe,
When I was in fear.

The first one to comfort,
When I felt alone…
and be by my side,
or spend hours on the phone.

The first one to teach me,
the lessons in life…
and guide me through troubles,
Through pain and through strife.

The first one to coach me,
the first one to cheer…
When I needed a pep talk,
She would always be near.

The first eyes to see me,
Imperfections and all…
Show me love and acceptance,
and help me stand tall.

The first one I look to,
When I need a friend.

The first advice that I seek,
When my hearts on the mend.

The first hero I had,
the first savior I knew,
the first doctor, protector,
and counselor too.

The first person I think of,
When making a choice…
Whether near me of far,
I can still hear her voice.

This first one that I speak of,
is special you see…
For without her,
the world would look different to me.
